I joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard during my senior year of high school in December 1988. I graduated from Buffalo Valley High School in May 1989. After completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) I was assigned to the Headquarters Platoon, Communication Section, 445 MP Company. I deployed with this unit for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991. I cross-trained in 1992 to become a Military Police Officer. I joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard again in 2006 and served as a Military Police Officer at Camp Gruber in Oklahoma. My law enforcement career began as a certified Reserve Officer in 1994 and a Full-Time certified Officer in 1997. In 2001 I took employment as an armed contract security guard working at federal facilities and this is still my current position. My law enforcement experience has spanned from Military Police to Municipal Police Officer to Oklahoma State Park Ranger and finally ending as a county Sheriff's Deputy. I have over 430 hours of Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) recognized training. I have served with volunteer fire departments and at the last department became the Captain/Training Officer. Some of the highest levels of training achieved were Wilderness Search and Rescue Trainer, nationally certified Firefighter 1, and nationally certified Fire Instructor Level 1. During this time I also became a state licensed Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) . I have over 580 hours of OSU Fire Service Training (OSUFST) recognized training. I became a certified NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and an Oklahoma licensed Self Defense Act Instructor in 2023. I obtained my General Mobil Radio Service (GMRS) license in 2020 and became a licensed HAM radio operator (Tech Level) in 2023. I’m currently the Vice President of the Kiamichi Amateur Radio Club.
